To provide impetus to the traditional arts & crafts of minority communities through the wide reach of e-commerce
New Delhi, May 14, 2015: ShopClues.com, India’s first and largest managed marketplace goes another step forward in enabling smaller businesses and traders to enjoy the advantages of e-commerce. It has signed a MoU with the Ministry of Minority Affairs which makes it the preferred online partner for the launch of the new scheme, USTTAD. The foundation of the campaign was laid down by Hon’ble Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi. The official ceremony of the launch happened on May 14, 2015 at Sanskritik Sankul (Urban Haat), Chaukaghat, Varanasi, U.P. The event was graced by the presence of Hon’ble Minister of Minority Affairs, Dr. Najma Heptulla as the Chief Guest of the evening.
The scheme aims at upgrading skills and preserving the traditional ancestral arts and crafts of minorities. As the preferred partner, ShopClues will help the beneficiaries of the ministry, primarily artisans, to understand the existing demand in the e-commerce market and also enable them to cater to this demand. They will also be able to take advantage of the wide reach of the ShopClues platform to market their creations.
Speaking on the signing of the MoU, Mr. Sanjay Sethi, Co-founder and CEO, ShopClues.com said, “We register more than 50 million visitors on our website every month. With this association, the businessmen from minority communities will be able to leverage the benefits of our highly penetrative platform. This will open up marketing opportunities for them that they had perhaps never imagined until now. With retailers from minority communities on board, our consumers too, will get ready access to their unique and highly coveted productions.”
Through this tie-up, ShopClues will hand hold the craftsmen and mentor them to run their businesses successfully and reach a wider audience through the medium of online retail. ShopClues will also provide training, infrastructural support in data analytics and customer acquisition to the beneficiaries. Their catalogues will become a part of the ShopClues’ National Retail Heritage (NRH) which has previously pushed sales for numerous local manufacturers and vendors as well as for the beneficiaries of the Ministry of Minority Affairs
