Styles: Informal Upright, Slanting, Semi-cascade, Broom
Position: Bright well lit position. Responds well to light and warmth.
Water well during the growing season, let soil surface dry out before watering again. It is mildly draught tolerant, but will shed its leaves if allowed to dry out, and may not recover, especially if temperatures are not conducive.
Feed bimonthly during the growing season, use a balanced fertiliser.
Leaf and Branch Pruning:
Prune leaves in summer, cut back to leave leaf pairs on extending stems. Responds well to pruning.
Re-potting & Growing Medium:
Repot young trees every 2-3 years. The Guava likes a well drained soil but is quite tolerant of soil fertility. Use a 1 Part Akadama, 1 Part Damolin Clay and 1 Part Pumice. Repot when temperatures are well into the 20s.
Branches are hard and not easy to bend, especially older ones, so handle with care, use raffia to protect from scaring. Can be wired anytime, but best in the colder months, when growth has eased.
