Ensure wellness at workplace: use of PPE in construction is a valuable resource for engineers, safety management people, manufacturers who involve in Personal Protective Equipment designing and users of PPE. This book explores the various hazards and challenges faced by construction labors and its impact on their health. The objective of this book is to provide knowledge about the construction site hazards & accidents and provide some practical measures to reduce fatal injury rate for this industry. As we know that construction work is featured by high labor turnover, constantly changing work environment and conditions on site, and different type of work being carried out simultaneously. All these factors caused by temporary nature of job create a high risk environment. The book will provide guidelines for engineers and safety management people helping them to improve construction life of labors by providing them safe working environment which inturn helpful to increase the efficiency of workers. This book concerns with occupational and medical history, anthropometry, physical fitness level, postural assessment, vibration hazard symptom, grip strength with and without the use of PPE, perceived exertion after various work, Pulmonary Function Test and blood Lactate concentrations, physiological and psychological cost of work of construction workers. Along with this environmental parameters and hazards present and risk associated in site were also analyzed. On the basis of above detail helmet and gloves for construction workers based on anthropometric measurement were designed through Auto CAD.

Dr. Pratibha Joshi is a Scientist in Agriculture Research Service (ARS), posted in Vivekanand Parvatiya Krishi Anusandhan Sansthan (ICAR), at Almora, Uttarakhand. She did her Ph.D. with ICAR-SRF (Senior Research Fellowship) from G.B.P.U. of Ag. & Tech. Pantnagar in the discipline of Family Resource Management in the year 2010 with the experience in Ergonomics.

Prof. Promila Sharma is Head, Department of Family Resource Management, College of Home Science, G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, Uttaranchal. She has been involved in research since 1983 and disseminated several technologies techniques through extension and research work.

Dr. T. C. Thakur is the ICAR National Professor, Department of Farm Machinery and Power Engineering. College of Technology, G.B.P.U.A.& T., Pantnagar, Uttarakhand. He was Commonwealth Scholar at the Cranfield Institute of Technology, England (U. K.) during 1981-85 to pursue his higher studies. He has over 38 years of experience in teaching, research and extension of various technologies. Dr. Thakur has published over 170 research papers/technical articles in National and International Journals. He has also published 16 research/extension bulletins and contributed to 18 books chapters. He is the recipient of many honours and awards because of his outstanding contributions in the field of Agricultural Engineering. Dr. Thakur has developed several types of innovative hill implements and farm machinery for plain regions which are being patented and commercialized. He is on the role of many esteemed organizations in the capacity of member and advisor.

Mr. Amit Khatter, is a Deputy Manager in Jindal Arc. Limited, Gurgaon, Haryana working in construction industry and sharing his experience and helping the poor workmanship of construction life.
