By combining a stain with polyurethane, the need for multiple product application is eliminated. Varathane One Step Stain & Polyurethane adds rich color and a smooth protective finish. It has fast dry, low odor, and the convenience of soap and water clean-up. It is suitable for use on interior wood furniture, trim, cabinets, and doors. It is not recommended for use on exterior surfaces.

Tips for Application

Painting Conditions: Use adequate ventilation at all times. Do not shake. Apply when temperatures are between 50-90°F (10-38°C) and the relative humidity less than 85%.

Surface Preparation: Remove any existing coatings using sandpaper or stripper. Prepare bare wood for staining by sanding in the direction of the grain. Begin with #120 grit sandpaper and progress through #150, #180 and #220 grits. Remove all sanding dust with a vacuum or clean rag dampened with mineral spirits.

Application: Apply One Step Stain & Polyurethane using a high quality synthetic bristle brush in the direction of the grain until a uniform film has been achieved. To prevent brush marks, avoid excessive brushing. Additional coats can be applied allowing one hour dry time between coats. Lightly sand between coats with #320 grit sandpaper. Remove all sanding dust before applying additional coats.
