 History

Carlsberg beer has been produced since 1847. It was first sold in its current pilsner form in 1904. In 1868 Carlsberg began exporting to Scotland. In 1869 samples were sent to Rangoon, Singapore, Calcutta and Hong Kong.

Carlsberg Logo

Architect Thorvald Bindesboell designed the world famous art nouveau Carlsberg logo for the launch of Carlsberg pilsner in 1904. With the logo, this pioneer in Danish design forever left his mark on Denmark's leading beer maker. He was paid 500 kroner for the design - it was expensive at the time, but it turned out to be money well spent. And like the beer, the award winning logo has stood the test of time, remaining largely unchanged to this very day.
