Sensors and Optics 

This Canon DSLR features an APS-C size CMOS sensor that has a total resolution of 12.2 megapixels. The sensor is optimized for up to ISO 6400 sensitivity so that you can capture clear pictures under low light conditions.

The camera has a built-in flash that has a guide number of 9.2 metre (at ISO 100). The flash covers up to 17mm lens angle (27mm equivalent). For preview and review of photographs, the camera sports a 2.7 inch LCD that offer 100% frame coverage. With approx 170° viewing angle, it’s easy to refer the LCD from extreme angles.

The bundled kit lens has a focal length range of 18-55mm which translates to 29-88mm (in 35mm format). This range adequately meets most day-to-day photography requirements to cover wide to close-up shots. Addition of aspherical lens elements curbs image aberrations for undistorted images. With advanced lens coatings, this kit lens effectively minimizes ghosting and flare. Its circular aperture helps achieve beautiful soft-toned images.

Body and Design 

The EOS 1100D has been designed with a lightweight body (Approx. 495 gram) that is easy to hold and carry. Its fairly smaller size makes it a perfect camera for ladies as well. The conventional DSLR camera body has a design that supports effective access to all buttons and controls. You can get 95% frame coverage through the camera’s viewfinder. A relaxing 21mm of Eyepoint makes it comfortable to look through. Dioptre correction feature is available make it easy for users with glasses.

Storage and Connectivity 

This Canon DSLR camera accepts SD, SDHC or SDXC card to store images and video. For connectivity, it features Hi-Speed USB, Pal/NTSC video output as well as HDMI mini output. There is Canon’s proprietary PictBridge that enables you print photographs directly from the camera (without taking out the card).


Other Features 

Although an entry-level camera, the EOS 1100D offers a host of features to experiment on DSLR photography. Manual exposure mode is available in addition to Shutter- and Aperture-priority Auto Exposure modes. If situation warrants, you can choose from various automatic shooting modes instead of juggling for manual settings. Thanks to its Wide-area 9-point AF system, the camera instantly achieves autofocus for sharp image capture. With 63-zone iFCL exposure metering, the 1100D efficiently evaluates scenes and gets you pictures with balanced exposure.

Its Digic 4 engine processes the shot images to offer pleasing colours and levels. A frame rate of 3fps comes handy to shoot fast actions. The camera starts up in 0.1 second so that you can instantly switch on the camera and shoot a picture. This DSLR camera is compatible with all EF and EF-S lenses.
