Please   find the procedure to convert your Windows 7 PC/Laptop into Wi-Fi hotspot by using D-Link DWM-156 dongle.

This is exiting feature to connect 4 to 5 users (PC, smartphone etc…) by using 3G dongle connections.

All users can hassle free access the internet.

1)      Connect dongle to your PC and launch the D-link connection manager

2)      Click on Connect button and connect to internet.  

3)      Once you connected Go to “Control Panel  à Network and sharing centre à Change adapter settings” over there you find the connection icon created by the dongle.

Refer the screenshot as shown below, here we have used Airtel Sim card.

4)      To share this internet connection with others you have to change some settings of this connection.

5)       For that Right click on the connection and go into Properties. Below window will appear.

6)      Go to “Sharing” Tab, select the check box for “All other network users to connect through this computer’s internet connection and from the home networking connection

drop down option select your wireless network as we are going to extend this connection over wireless.

7)      Once you Select these options and click on OK, then it will give you one prompt and will assign one IP address to your shared wireless LAN adapter click on yes to accept this.

Also you have to keep other devices which are going to connect to this Laptop on Dynamic IP assignment mode.

8)      Now we have to create wireless “ad hoc network” on this client so that other wireless clients can connect to this wireless networks and share the internet connection of this client.

For this go to Control Panel à Network and sharing centre à manage wireless networks

In this page you will find the number of wireless connection s, you need to click on Add to create ad hoc network as shown below.

9)      Now on next window click on next.

10)   On the next screen give “Network name “ for your wireless and select the security type and assign the password for wireless network as shown below. Also save this network.

Click next .

11)   On the next page it will show you the summary of wireless network and it will be ready for use.

12)   Now same way on the other client also you will create ad hoc wireless network, you will put the same wireless settings which you have put In the Master client and then you will be able to share the internet connectivity of the Master Client.
