One of the most popular of these is known as the Maneki Neko (which literally means "Beckoning Cat"). It is probably more common to hear it referred to as a "Lucky Cat" a "Money cat" a "Fortune Cat" or sometimes incorrectly as a "Chinese Lucky Cat". Uses of the Maneki Neko Cat The Japanese Lucky Cat is often displayed in the windows or at the entrances of restaurants and businesses. Its beckoning hand motion is meant to imply "Welcome please come in!" (Note that in Japanthe gesture of beckoning is the reverse of the gesture used in the West.) Maneki Neko can be found with either the right or left paw raised (though sometimes both). The most common belief is that the left paw raised brings customers into your business and attracts wealth while a right paw raised brings good luck and protection. Other experts claim that a left paw raised can attract women while the right paw raised attracts men. In the traditional Maneki Neko the paw rises just above the whiskers. However since it is commonly believed that the higher the raised paw the greater the luck the Maneki Neko paw has tended to appear higher and higher over the years. Origin of the Japanese Maneki Neko Cat There are many legends associated with origin of the Japanese Lucky Cat. The best-known is that of a wealthy feudal lord that was taking shelter under a tree near a temple during a thunderstorm. The lord saw the temple's white cat beckoning to him from the temple doorway. He decided to walk towards the cat and just as he entered the temple the tree he had just been under was struck by lightning. The wealthy lord subsequently became friends with the poor priest who owned the cat and in time he helped the temple to become prosperous. When the priest's cat finally died the feudal lord supposedly had a statue erected in its honor. Hence the first Maneki Neko was born. Proper Placement and Gifting of the Maneki Neko Cat Feng shui experts suggest that there are certain guidelines you should take into account when deciding where to place your lucky cats. Ideally they should be situated in the so-called wealth area at the southeast corner of the house or working space where they will be. If that is not possible they should be placed in the northeast area instead. Japanese lucky cats make wonderful gifts for cat lovers Japanese culture fanatics or collecting enthusiasts in general. They come in many different colors and styles although they are traditionally made of ceramic wood or plastic. Some Maneki Neko are equipped with battery- or solar-powered moving arms that endlessly wave in the beckoning gesture. You may also see very ornate examples of the Japanese Lucky Cat that are made of jade or even gold! Although traditional figurines are very popular today you will also find Maneki Neko inspired coin banks key chains ornaments decals and a variety of many other novelties.PRODUCT DISCRIPTION :-COLOUR :- GOLDENMATERIAL :- PLASTIC ( BATTERY OPERATED )SIZE :- 5  TO  7  INCHES HIGHT
